Located in the heart of Casco Viejo in Panama City, Huma, a play on the word “humo”, meaning smoke in Spanish, is an upscale culinary experience serving up Nikkei fusion fare. Huma offers a unique blend of flavors and vibe dining in a four floor space featuring a restaurant, lounge and rooftop bar. Our team not only had the opportunity to create the brand’s logo and visual identity, but also conceptualized the name for this new global hotspot.

A Provocative Logo

Our logo design process allowed us to play with very unique typefaces. We felt that the concept called for something one-of-a-kind and began to sketch visual representations of how “Huma” may appear had it had the same seductive movement as smoke. Our goal when designing Huma’s logo was to capture sophistication tied into a rustic-contemporary style reminiscent of ash to depict the true essence of the venue’s multicultural atmosphere.

Bold Visual Identity

Huma’s visual identity drew inspiration from smoke and it’s mesmerizing movement. To embody the ambiance of the restaurant, we incorporated rich colors found around the venue and introduced textures and elements alluding to the look and feel of ash. Creating an elevated yet provocative identity was important to our team, as we knew we were not only creating an identity for a restaurant, but for it’s after-hours lounge and rooftop bar. From main dining room to rooftop bar, the concept is able to freely flow from one space to the next.
